So our plans for Thursday didn’t go quite as planned. We were hoping to visit the very posh retirement community of Center in the Park in Germantown. Apparently, it was a hectic week at the center and our plans to visit and conduct interviews got pushed back to Friday. Unfortunately for us, because our interview is now scheduled for Friday morning, we’re going to miss the craziness of the guitar jam session and the ultra
seductive belly dance lessons.
In the meantime, we realized we weren’t going to be getting much work done for our project. Once we got over the sheer disappointment of not being able to participate in the exotic physical workouts offered at the center, we opted instead to stroll the streets of Germantown. We took notice of the impeccable art work that is scattered all over the region. Yeah I know. Not quite a guitar jam session but it was something to do.
We then began to prepare for Friday. We’re scheduled to be at Center in the Park at 9 a.m. for art and craft lessons. What exactly that will involve is beyond me but I’m already getting my blank canvas, water colors and paintbrushes ready.
Tomorrow should be rather entertaining. Any retirement community that offers activities other than quilting and bingo are bound to have a few interesting stories that need to be told. The point-of-view we hope to convey in our story is that people over the age of 65 like to have a good time just as much as someone who is 25. I used to dread getting old but knowing it’s not all sponge baths and learning to knit makes it seem not so bad. Besides, belly dancing in a retirement community? Who knew retirement could be so sexy!
