Our time in Kensington will yield many memories for all of us, but what we will take most from this experience is the people. The Kensington residents that we spoke to, some once, some several times, were all friendly and inviting, willing to share with us what they knew and to tell their story. Nothing surprised our group more then the openness of the neighborhood and its willingness to let us into its own world.
While our reporting and our topics were serious, the optimistic atmosphere of the neighborhood allowed us to have fun and enjoy our time in Kensington. Many telling anecdotes and even more inside jokes have formed within our group over the past 3 and a half-months, enough to keep us laughing and smiling long after we graduate and go our separate ways. The semester just wouldn’t have been the same without Pete’s never-failing MURLMobile, Kylee’s perpetual bad luck, or Holland’s uncanny ability to score phone numbers from high school kids.
All in all, if nothing else, we can say that MURL wasn’t a waste of our time. It was learning experience for all of us, and will stay with us as we start the next chapter of our lives.
Group One - Peter Morris, Holland Baldrige, Kylee Messner
