Tomorrow marks our first trip into Fishtown. Both Ayana and I are excited yet nervous for our first (of many) walking excursions throughout Fishtown. Being that we are both from New York, venturing out into neighborhoods other than Temple's campus, North Philadelphia, Center City and Olde City is and has always been a foreign idea. While Ayana has ridden the trolley many times, on the other hand I have not. This will be the third time I have sat on a trolley.
Researching art and culture through the Spirit Newspaper and various other Fishtown online forums, it should be very interesting and entertaining to see if perhaps Fishtown has its very own sub-culture, separate from Philadelphia. Being an artist myself, I always find it inspiring to connect with other artists, learn and appreciate different styles of art other than my own.
I would also (as well as Ayana) would like to learn how SEPTA impacts the daily lives of Fishtown residents and their means of transportation. From what I understand SEPTA is not very well liked throughout various neighborhoods in Philadelphia, so it should be very entertaining to hear past SEPTA stories and experiences.
So we tomorrow we take our journey to discover modes of transportation that we didn’t know still existed.
