Thanks to Professor Washington we were clued into an organization in our Neighborhood called "Project H.O.M.E". Before checking out the website we had never heard of the organization, all though it is very much renowned. Over at Project H.O.M.E they work to combat homlessness and poverty. There are a number of different progams, most noteably, an affordable housing department to mend chronic homlessness. There is also an education department that helps children, teenagers and adult get educated and find employment to generally improve their lives.
Sadly, the city budget impasse caused a lot of problems at Project H.O.M.E. The education department suffered particular implications and we plan to do our "Tell the Mayor" story on this issue. An organization that is working so diligentyly to improve the lives of others, and overall better the city shouldn't have to suffer from budget cuts. We plan to investigate exactly what is being lost and the affects of a lowered budget.
