With warmer temperatures in the air, Faihill has its vibrant energy back. Many residents took advantage of the much improved weather and extra hour of sunlight to socialize, play basketball and walk the streets.
The most active part of the neighborhood was the playground where teenage boys competitively played a game of basketball. Over from the court, was the jungle gy
m and swings where younger children flocked to. Parents sat at the benches where they watched their children enjoy the slides, monkey bars and swings.
Jackie Figueroa, a local resident, brought her six-year-old child to the playground to socialize with her friends. “Spring is basically here and it’s a perfect time to bring the kids to the playground,” said Figueroa. “With the weather we’ve had this past winter it’s nice just to be outside.”
Alberto Rojas, who is a long-time Fairhill resident, also saw the noticeable change in neighborhood since the beginning of the spring weather. “Today, I looked outside and people were walking up and down the street,” said Rojas. “As soon as school let out the playground filled up with kids. It’s a nice change to the atmosphere of the neighborhood and it’s a great feeling when everyone’s outside talking and just having fun. ”
