Recreation, Relaxation and Referendum

"You know it's the first nice day when everyone's outside at the rec center!"

Today, Fishtowners of all ages celebrated surprisingly gorgeous weather by taking advantage of the community's large and fun-filled rec center. While children played on the swing sets and jungle gyms, older boys played a few games of basketball and floor hockey. Mother's pushed their children in strollers around the outdoor recreation center, and others walked their dogs.

While many congregated outside, other members of the community went indoors for a weekly Fishtown Neighborhood Association zoning meeting. All Fishtown residents were eligible to vote on a proposal for a two-family home (with one off-street parking space) at 1135 Crease St. The rec center, located at 1202 e. Montgomery Ave. hosts all of the zoning meetings. Other recently discussed topics include future plans for housing developments and commercial businesses, such as the rumored Stephen Starr restaurant.

The FNA also utilizes the space for their general membership meetings, the next to be held on Thursday, March 18th at 7 pm. This meeting will discuss future plans for I-95 and the potential traffic concerns that will affect the neighborhood streets. Bella Sera Cafe will provide refreshments, and all are encouraged to attend.
