Gaffney Fabric's slogan is "the fabric of the community." It has been in the Germantown area since it opened its doors in 1978. The local corner fabric store, located at 5401 Germantown Avenue, is actually a 10,000 square foot warehouse, filled with an array of fabrics.
The store's owner, Joe Gaffney, says the store is always trying to find "the best fabrics at prices that can't be beat."
The store carries fabrics for special occasions and prom, satins, denims, African cottons, calico prints, kid prints, gabardine, polar fleece, medical scrubs, stretch knits, rayon, furs, wool and holiday prints. "We have anything and everything, more than the average fabric store that's commercially owned," Gaffney said.
The store is known to have many "regulars" who visit frequently to look forward to new shipments and low-prices for sewing things from clothes to curtains.
"We get in new shipments about every week, so our clients always check in to see what's new and pick up what they're looking for," Gaffney said.
