Carvel is the owner of Carvel Camp, a 6-year-old business based in Philadelphia that works with commercial and residential properties . Moving and hauling, painting, landscaping and power-washing are just some of the many services this local business provides. Carvel is more than a business man, he is an active member of the HERO (Helping Energize and Rebuilding Ourselves) Community Center in Nicetown. "I love working down here, I'm a people person," he said.
On Saturday, April 24, a social networking and fundraising event, developed by Carvel, will be held at HERO. There will be a live DJ, an open buffet as well as chances to win gifts.
Carvel said his goal in holding the event in addition to raising funds for the community center, is to reach out to people who may not know about HERO or have never been there.
HERO holds many events for people in the community. Residents can rent the space at HERO for anything from birthday parties to wedding receptions. Carvel said he hopes the meet and greet will bring in more people who want to hold events.
If you would like to attend the event, it will start at 9 p.m. at the HERO Community Center (17th and Tioga Street) this Saturday. Bring your own refreshments as well as business cards and any other networking information.
