North Central: Seasonal Sidewalk Sale Helps the Community

As spring settles in and the weather gets warmer, residents around North Central are out on their blocks socializing, relaxing after a day’s work and even holding side walk sales.

During days of good weather, life long North Central resident Daphne Clinkscales, routinely sets up an elaborate display of items for sale along side of her home. Near the Corner of 22nd and Berks Streets, passer buyers and residents within the community have the opportunity to buy a mix of purchased and previously owned items.

Ranging from clothing, toys and home décor, to delicate trinkets, ornaments, accessories and a lot more. “Sometimes people tell me what they need or what they’re looking for and I go out and get them, ” said Clinkscales (left).

When it comes to providing the neighborhood with the things that they need, making money isn’t a top priority for Clinkscales.
“I’ve been out here all day and I’ve only made
$6— but it isn’t about the money for me, sure I don’t mind making a few dollars here but I do it because it helps people in the community because sometimes not everyone has a lot of money to purchase some of these things in the stores,” said Clinkscales.

If Curious about the sidewalk sale, then stop by 22nd and Berks on a nice day in the afternoon to see the assortment of merchandise featured.
