Score 4 Scholarships

The annual Philadelphia Scholars Score 4 Scholarships Basketball Tournament took place yesterday at the Palestra gymnasium. The event was sponsored by the Philadelphia Education Fund. Many people showed up to participate in the day's events. There were various different types of basketball games played throughout the day. New to the tournament this year was a H-O-R-S-E competition.

All of the funds that were collected from the tournament are going to further the education of many students in Philadelphia. Schools like West Philadelphia High School will receive donations. Some spectators also showed up for the event. Trevor Adams,26, said, "This is my second year that I've been here for. It's a great time and all of the proceeds go to a charity so that makes it even butter. It's an all around good time."

The event was sponsored by many corporations like Comcast, 97.5 the Fanatic, and Morgan Stanley. Bob Riley took part in a 5 on 5 match, but his team was eliminated in the first round of the tournament. Riley says, "Winning or Losing doesn't matter. What matters is that we are (here) to support our schools and having fun doing it."
